Shaping The Key To Your Prison

Or, how to make the most out of your Suburban Supermax

Don’t let 4 walls and a roof get the best of you!

This pandemic has become a real bore for the extroverted soul. My family and I have tapped out every possible venue of entertainment. Games? Burned through them. Music? Heard every song on the playlist. Series on Netflix? All caught up. As for cable television, it is not like we have a choice beyond news and reruns. With the daily reminder of an ever-rising death toll and a puppet show of political buffoonery from our neighbours to the south, it feels like I’m stuck in the dark ages.

But I am not going to let my house become a prison. While stuck at home, I am making the best of it by turning to the internet. It is my greatest frenemy; a gateway into new interests and a voracious gobbler of free time. I’ve been building up a sweat with a resistance band, an exercise mat, and a bevy of old workout videos posted to Youtube. Those old Tae-Bo videos languishing in your basement? They’re on there, and they do wonders!

I also make a routine out of getting some fresh air – nowhere too crowded, of course. A stroll through the neighbourhood also does wonders to lift the spirits. We usually travel in a group of 5, occasionally altering our path for the next person ambling our way. Funny thing, how there seems to be more people occupying the front yards and sidewalks on my street then before.

You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone, I suppose.
