A New Reality

Coping With Covid JRN 241

Coming into terms with what has now become our new life my family and I are trying to make the best out of everything. But, just like any situation, we must naturally face there are good and bad days. Through the frustrations of not being able to return to work right now, staying creative and keeping busy is our only motive. We’ve decided to do a lot of planting around our front yard. My grandmother and I will take turns mending the garden each day, seeing her being occupied with something she loves to do makes me happy.

During this time, one of the biggest lessons my family and myself have learned throughout this experience is self-reflection. Not having the constructed/hectic schedules as we used to have is definitely an eye-opener for us all. So, with that being said here is a great link where you can practice and evaluate self-reflection on your own or even share it with the people around you.

I am grateful that continuing the second semester of the journalism program is available, for this gives me something to really look forward too. It can be difficult when you have a lot of free time because being lazy is an easy trait to pick up. When I feel a little down or lack motivation I go for walks or long unnecessary drives along the country roads. The scenery alone gives me great stimulation to create and get inspired. Sometimes you need to be reminded over and over again about the little things, and that’s okay.
