Covid-19 started to be a big deal when the restaurant that I´ve been working for a week need to close. At that time, I realized how big was the panic that every nation had. As a journalist student and a Colombian culture and knowledge, I started searching everything about covid, and also realizing the big impact that this would made in Canada and in my Country Colombia. At the same time, I looked for more information and searching for more work opportunities. As an international student I can´t stop working, I have many responsibilities such as the college fee, rent and my food. I discovered many information about the virus and also one big question started coming into my mind. Is something bigger behind this panic that all the media and politicians are making Who is taking advantage of this?
Every country manages the pandemic in different ways. In Colombia (3rd world country) is hard to make a lockdown, because most of the people live day per day and the government doesn´t help everyone in the best way. Corruption and stealing are our bigger issues. Knowing that, I was glad being in Canada, here I had the opportunity of having a job and the people managed the lockdown in a responsible way.
I was worried about my family, but everyone is safe, and they had the opportunity to work from home. And the most important thing is that they have each other love.
The pandemic started to grow, and I started with my two cleaning jobs, I began having many video calls with my family and husband, they give me love and support. For me the pandemic brings me jobs, meeting new people that are becoming my Canadian family.
