“Give them goosebumps,” tweeted The Toronto Zoo.

The Toronto Zoo recently tweeted, “Roses are red; violets are blue… Is there someone in your life that’s bugging you? Give them goosebumps by naming a cockroach in their honour this Valentine’s Day. For more information or to symbolically name-a-roach: bit.ly/3IFr7xp.”

It’s called, “Adopt an Animal Valentine’s Day Special – Name-A-Roach.”

For 25$ you can name a roach and you’ll receive a “digital certificate personalized with your name and roach name, a shareable digital graphic and a full charitable tax receipt for the donor.”

News reporter Nikki Partey talked with students at the York Campus to know what the students think about the zoo’s tweet. One student said they wanted to name a cockroach after their professor, “Christopher”.  Someone else said ” Rebecca”; however, they did not clarify why. It could be an ex or maybe they just like the name. A student even said “Donald Trump”.

Torontonians, however, have mixed feelings about the zoo’s initiative. Some people, like Irishgirl117, “love” this idea and someone even suggested the Premier’s name.

However, some people were not amused.
