Winter Blitz More Like Winter Splits

Bundle up

Winter this year is not going to be an average one as it seems the weather has split the country down the middle.

Western Canada, especially British Columbia is expected to see warmer than normal temperatures this year, while the eastern half, especially Ontario will experience a longer and colder than normal winter.

The first half of winter in the east will be a little more off and on with temperatures, but for the second half it will be bitterly cold with temperatures well below zero. One good thing in the east is we will see fewer snow storms and more normal snow fall.

Out west it will be a milder winter with significantly less snow than usual.

Chris Scotts, The Weather Network’s Chief meteorologist says temperatures are expected to be warmer than normal in Alberta and western Saskatchewan, while temperatures are expected to be closer to normal for eastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

We will see above-normal temperatures for Yukon, Northwest Territories and western Nunavut, and near to below-normal temperatures are predicted for eastern Nunavut.
