Kyaina Amani is a Bio-Chemistry tutor at the Seneca Learning Centre.  As the semester comes to an end, Amani says she has seen an increase in the number of students seeking help.

“Sometimes we have three students, but sometimes it’s as many as twenty.”

You can see them in the library at all hours, cramming for the their exams, or working on some last minute assignments.

To help students prepare for exams The Learning Centre has set up a number of support programs…

“So we normally have boot camps, but we also increase the number of our workshops as well. And also we have some extra boot camps available that they can use, and it’s normally going to run before study week and also before the exams.”

The Learning Centre, located in the library at the York campus,  offers various programs and services throughout the school year, such as one-on one tutoring where student can book in person or online tutoring  in the subject the need help with. They offer study session in a (SLG) Supported Learning Group, English language workshops, with emphasis on grammar, academic writing, conversation and pronunciation. They also offer study skill services appropriate strategies for Seneca students to succeed in their courses.
