The Sting women’s basketball team was going up against their toughest challenge yet, the Algonquin Wolves who were 9-0 going into this game. Seneca was 5-6 and was looking for a bounce back game after losing two straight games.
The offensive struggles continue to be a massive problem for the women’s team. They had defensive lapses as well. This game marks the third consecutive game where they have allowed more than 60 points. Algonquin almost doubled the Sting in points as Seneca lost the game 81-42. The Sting’s leading scorers, Nadia Gonzalez and Daniellia Myers, only came away with 10 points each. Meanwhile, it was a completely different story for the Wolves as their leading scorer was Dasia Mcdonald who led the Wolves with 28 points.
The Sting looked weak against the Wolves and it seems like a tall task for the Sting to come back this season and have a reasonable shot at the title. The Sting’s women’s team is now sitting in fifth place in the division and are six points out from third place. They have two more regular season games left until the playoffs
The next game for the Sting women’s team is Georgian College on Friday, January 31 at 6 pm in Barrie as they look to snap a three-game losing streak and have a better offensive game.
