Seneca Men’s team dealt with Durham as they got there vengeance victory 83-76 on Tuesday night. Seneca avenges there 63-57 loss earlier in the season at Durham back in November. But now They now go on a 6-game winning streak as their record improves to 9-2. Huge performance by the team especially to number 8 Tafari Black who finished the game with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Marcus Bonnick also had another strong game, finishing with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The bench also played a great role in Seneca’s big victory outscoring Durhams bench by 28-16. It was a great back and forth slug match between the Seneca Sting and the Durham Lords. Whenever you would think Seneca had this game under control Durham would manage their way back in the game to make it a close game. Seneca’s next game comes against Fleming tonight on the road. As Seneca remains undefeated 6-0 at home their road record is 3-2 they look to try and improve that tonight at 8pm. The Women’s team suffered a tough loss against Durham earlier on tuesday with the final scoring finishing 72-59 for Durham. Now to be fair heading into this game Seneca had the same problem as centennial did last week which was being shorthanded. Seneca only had 2 players coming off the bench while Durham had 6 players. That still didn’t phase the sting as the first quarter was pretty close Seneca had a 1 point lead and then came the second quarter in which Seneca outscored Durham by 21-10 taking a 12 point lead into halftime 37-25 the score was. But then came the numbers game and fatigue started to kick in. A full starting basketball roster should have at least 15 players ready to suit up however for Seneca there was only 2 players able to came off the bench. Seneca got outscored in the third quarter 30-13 and then never really got back in the game. Unfortunate circumstances happen all the time its part of life but give props to Seneca for not backing down so easily in the first half. Tianna Leveridge finished the game with a double-double dropping 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists. Senecas record now falls to 3-6 their next game will come against the George Brown huskies at home next friday January 27th at 6pm.
