Deck the Malls with Calls of Jolly

By: Camille Wilson

It’s the happiest season of all! Not for everyone as it can be so stressful. Trying to find the best gifts for your loved ones can be difficult. Some try to alleviate that stress by starting their Christmas shopping early. This is the time a lot of math comes into play, trying to balance finances and budget to getting that perfect gift without going broke. Many shoppers use Black Friday to start their shopping to get great deals on gifts and stocking stuffers.

Krista, an ECE worker, started her Christmas shopping in the summer because she says she has a lot of gifts to get and starting early means she finishes early.

Amanda, a Journalism student, says she started her online shopping at the beginning of November. She was scared of her gifts not arriving on time due to the rotating postal strikes that started September 26. Mailing is an option many people are reconsidering this year.

Malls are all decked out in their holiday display.  Trees are up!  Hudson Bay windows are open and festive lights are hanging. Shopping centres are busy all throughout the day this time of year. Trying to find a parking spot could take up to 30 minutes for some shoppers. Malls will be starting their extended shopping hours December 1 for people to have enough time to get all their shopping in.

Distillery District Christmas Market

The Toronto Christmas Market definitely adds to the Holly Jolly season with great places to shop, dine, enjoy your favorite holiday drinks and participate in fun activities. It runs from November 15- December 23 in the Distillery District.
