Believe and Achieve

Isha Bhargava is a 22 year old journalism student who knows all about hard work and following her dreams.

In high school after watching an interview of Rob Ford, embattled Toronto mayor, Isha was moved.  Hearing the mayor speak on his struggles with addiction and how rehab saved his life really connected with her.  She had always been fascinated by the human brain and how it works, and now she knew how she wanted to apply her interests.  She decided that she wanted to help people and be a resource for those struggling, to possibly save a life.  She decided to study psychology.

While going through the daunting task of growing up and deciding what to do and where to go, she followed a friend to Ryerson University who was attending an orientation.  While there, she began to read a pamphlet about their Broadcast Journalism course and was drawn in.  She knew that this is what she really wanted to do.  She applied to the program and was wait-listed, but she didn’t give up on her new found dream.

She went on to York University where obtained a degree in Psychology.  During those four years, she never lost sight of her end game.  She took each lesson learned and continued on toward her goals.  She took a part time job as a waitress, something she never thought she do.  She was inexperienced and shy and afraid of failure.  But she continued to work hard and face her fears.  She memorized the menu, shadowed the cooks and other waitstaff and dedicated herself to being the best that she could possibly be.  And all that hard work paid off.  She became the best server, often requested by the regular patrons.

Now, Isha is a student at Seneca’s Multiplatform Journlaism School of media – following her original intentions.  She is looking forward to working hard and using her voice to help others be heard.  She never gave up on her dreams and the belief that with hard work, everything and anything is possible.
