The Womens Volleyball team set a new record in Seneca’s History

By: Logan Bennett

The Sting women’s volleyball season has been nothing short of extraordinary, with many ups and downs. Seneca finished with an 18-0 record to grab first place in the East Division.  It’s hard not to believe that this could be the year the team wins its first volleyball title  since the 1990s.

This season, the Sting beat every college team in their division, even a top-tier team in the Durham Lords, who have been tough competitors all year. The Sting also have their eyes on another team, Humber, which beat Seneca last year in the playoffs to win the OCCA title.   Humber also went 18-0 to top the West Division.

I spoke to the coach about the record and he said “were happy about the record and being the first Seneca volleyball team to achieve this record but the overall goal is to win the OCAA title”

Although the Sting are happy with this amazing accomplishment, becoming the first Seneca volleyball team to go undefeated in a season, they have their eye on a much bigger prize this year and it’s to win the whole tournament.

The journey for the title begins on Saturday at 1pm in the King Campus against Conestoga Condors, who finished in 8th place in the West Division with a 7-11 record. The Sting can’t take this team lightly as they are hungry to become the first team to beat the Sting this season.  The Condors feel they have momentum going into the playoffs,  as they are on a two game winning streak.
