The Sting women’s volleyball team has finally lost a game ending their season in a stunning upset losing 3-1 in four sets against the Conestoga Condors. The Seneca Sting didn’t look like the team that went 18 and 0 in the season and had a tough time passing the ball with each other.

On paper, this should have been an easy opponent for the Sting but coach Saba Seda shed some insight into the Condors   “Conestoga is a good team and they came here to play. They were serving tougher than we were tonight and they were passing better the whole game.”

The Condors were in 7th place in the West division going into this match and the Sting was first in their East division. The Condors were a heavy underdog as they looked to defeat the first-place team. The Condors had a 7-11 record while the Sting had an 18-0 record.

The crowd’s energy was loud cheering on Sting to win this game and the atmosphere was optimistic. After their unfortunate exit from the playoffs, the whole team was in tears asking themselves what happening even questioning if they were dreaming. While the women process this hard loss the coach remains focused on the next season “It’s growing pains for sure it takes a while, its a process and to build but you learn from your past experiences and from there you move forward.

Although the women fought hard the whole season they fell short of their goal of winning the OCCA title. The leading scorer for the Sting was a tie between Emily McDonald and Taylor Grant having 12 points and 10 kills each in this game. The leading scorer for the Conestoga Condors was Abby Sluys with 22 points and 19 kills in the game.

The Conestoga Condors will now take on Fanshawe Falcons who they have beaten once this season  in the Quarter-finals of the playoffs.
