One, two, three! After announcing his retirement tour in Toronto during the World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) Money in the Bank event, John Cena returned for what may be the final time to compete in the Elimination Chamber this past weekend at the Rogers Centre.

After battling it out with five other competitors, including Seth Rollins and CM Punk, Cena secured his win in the chamber match by placing Punk into a submission hold after an eliminated Rollins curb-stomped Punk during his way out of the chamber. Punk passed out during the hold, and therefore Cena was deemed the winner of the match. Winning the Elimination Chamber match guarantees the winner a main event championship match at WWE’s WrestleMania event. The current WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, came out onto the stage to congratulate Cena on his win after the match was done.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson then also came onto the stage, followed by Travis Scott. Johnson, who has been asking Rhodes to align with him, was rejected by Rhodes. After hugging Rhodes in what seemed to be a sweet moment, Cena attacked Rhodes after being signaled to by Johnson, stunning the audience and causing confusion and hysteria for the 38,493 people sitting in the arena, and for the millions watching on Netflix at home. The attack lasted minutes, with Scott also striking blows on the champion. Cena left the stage with Johnson and Scott by his side. Rhodes left the ring shortly thereafter, bleeding and bruised from the relentless beatdown. Cena appeared at the post-show conference, but did not say anything to the audience. He picked up a microphone but then placed it down again before leaving the press meeting.

March 3rd’s WWE Monday Night Raw show opened with CM Punk calling out the injustice and unfair nature of Cena’s win in the Elimination Chamber match, which led to a major confrontation with Rollins. Punk argues that due to Rollins’ interference, that Cena should not have secured the win at Elimination Chamber. Rollins, who has publicly shown distain for Punk, told Adam Pearce, the show’s general manager, that he wants to “finish” the feud with him and Punk, to which Pearce scheduled a cage match on  March 10th between the two men for next week’s Monday Night Raw.

Neither Cena or Johnson appeared on this week’s Monday Night Raw, which begs the question as to where they may be? With the first night of WWE’s WrestleMania only 47 days away as of this week’s Monday Night Raw, some questions will need to be answered prior to that main event championship match.
