The Seneca Sting men’s volleyball team was looking for a two-game winning streak as they took on the Huskies at George Brown on Wednesday. And they had a battle on their hands.  The Sting are in eighth place, six points behind the Huskies, who are currently in fifth.

The Sting won the first set 28-26.  The Huskies took the next two sets, by identical scores of 25-19.  The Sting came back and won a marathon fourth set 33-31.  But ended up losing the fifth set 15-11.

The Sting’s player of the game was Baufy Kongolo with 30 points and 29 kills. Just behind him was Aidan Kilpatrick with 11 points and 7 kills. The George Brown Huskies player of the game was Yaroslav Svidritskiy with 32 points and 27 kills

Coach Matt Powell was proud of how his team battled,  “As the match went on we certainly got better but as the fifth set began we certainly ran into some issues with serve and receive and we were unable to transition some balls. Credit to them we got a lot better but it is what it is.”

The last regular season game for the Sting is against Georgian Grizzlies at 8 pm on Friday at the King campus.
