I got to sit down with Elaine Wright. A local Markham citizen who found ambition through the Covid-19 pandemic in losing weight and to keep it off. In my interview with Elaine, she emphasized how her motivation stems from frequent physical pain and previous attempts at weight loss. From nutritious programs to extensive vigorous workouts. She’s tried it all. When discussing her journey, she said “ over the years, year by year the pounds just kept packing on” She also added that she suffered from frequent back pain and couldn’t do the things she wanted to do. It was November 20 where she said “I had enough” and made the change in her life.

Elaine’s Weight Loss Journey

Now in Elaine’s previous experiences with weight loss, she managed to keep off for a little but didn’t maintain a consistently healthy lifestyle. Preventing her from sustaining a healthy weight and gaining it all over again. This time, however, was different. Each step of the way, Elaine made it essential in being consistent in shredding the weight. By building a flexible schedule with kinetic exercises and dietary meal plans. In accomplishing her goal. Another reason Elaine was able to be successful in her journey was the people around her. Who motivated and cheered her on along the way.

Another reason Elaine was able to be successful in her journey was the people around her. Who motivated and cheered her on along the way. Both her daughter and good friend, Yvonne Anderson were big influences and “made it fun and enjoyable bettering yourself with love ones”. In my interview with Yvonne, she allotted on how Elaine faced adversity during her progress but knew how to deal with it. As opposed to in previous years. “It’s what pushed her through and got her where she wants to be”. Throughout the months, her daughter also tagged along and joined her on runs, walks and “step counting” exercises, creating her little program.

Someone with expertise in weight loss is Psychologist, Syras Derkson. In an interview with Global TV. Syras explains how people are looking for better options for staying active. Syras adds “Right now people do need to really start thinking about how to stay active. When people actually do it. Sometimes there able to come off of medications. There can alleviate significant depressions. Umm, it’s just sometimes mentally challenging to get into an exercise routine”. Keeping yourself fit during a pandemic is the biggest takeaway from Syras’ interview. Which in itself is very beneficial for overall health and well-being.

After months of hard work and dedication, Elaine finally achieved her goal of transforming her body. Losing over 40 pounds in five months. She expressed to me saying “it’s great knowing that when you put your mind to something and achieve it. Is a great feeling and I’m gonna make it a personal mission of mine to keep off the weight for good”. Elaine strives on continuing to maintain a good weight, a healthy lifestyle and encourages her kids to do the same, not only now but also in the future.
