Seneca’s indoor soccer team held a second tryout for its upcoming season, looking to win the championship again. The Sting’s soccer team won the OCAA provincial and national championships last year. They also won three gold medals in a single calendar year, which has never been done before by any college. This team also won a CCAA national title for the first time in 32 years.
The main core has all returned, 13 from last year and this year. Kayla Uddenberg and Alexis Cordeiro are the team captains. The team plays in the east division in a 10-game outdoor season. Yoana Peralta was named the best player last season in the league. The sports coordinator, Shannon Wright, said “the team’s hope for this season is to win the finals again”. The girls are super amped for this season and are looking to win another title. Their competitiveness on the pitch and pin point technique suggests the team is ready to defend its titles.
The indoor soccer championships are March 6-7 at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre (formerly the Ontario Soccer Centre) in Vaughan.
