Defenceman Josh Brown has been Added to Ottawa’s COVID-19 protocol list. Brown joins teammates Austin Watson, Dylan Gambrell Connor Brown, Victor Mete and Nick Holden after failing his recent COVID test.

The Senators cancelled their Monday practice after Holden and Capuano showed positive COVID-19 test results. This was followed by Victor Mete being p

ulled from the line up on Tuesday, just hours before the Sens took the ice against Boston.

Added precautions are in place for Ottawa now, as they have cancelled their Wednesday practice. The Sens are win less in the month of November, currently with a goal differential of 23-11 over just five games. The Senators play a surging L.A. Kings team on Thursday night, who are 4-0 to start off the month of November.

The Ottawa Senators are not the only team facing COVID-19 complications, as the Las Vegas Golden Knights had six players out of their line up just last week. Teams around the league have spots to fill intermittently, meaning new opportunities are available to be taken. The problem with teams calling players up at this time however, is the hard salary cap in place.

These cap issues restrict certain players from joining N.H.L. teams and forces teams to drastically alter their line-up, moments before puck drop. Teams around the league have implemented more accurate tests, so teams aren’t faced with false negative results.

So far the league hasn’t seen any games cancelled due to COVID-19 just yet, but that’s not to say they wont. The most recent game between the Winnipeg Jets and San Jose Sharks was delayed almost half an hour because the Sharks had 7 members of their squad out, including their head coach.
