Ontario’s Steps to Reopening

On Monday, June 11th at 12:01am the first step of reopening Ontario will begin. With the current state we are in, the Ontario government is only allowing essential services such as grocery stores, pharmacies and some food establishment are allowing foot traffic. The reason behind beginning the first step of reopening is because of the province wide vaccination rate. In the first steps of reopening we can expect to see outdoor dining with up to four people at a table. Another few activities we will be getting back is outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people and non-essential retail with a capacity of 15% opening back up to the public. With the freedom of gathering and socializing slowly returns we must remember there are still rules to follow throughout this first phase of reopening. In a indoor social gathering setting, only members of the household your in and one member of another household who lives alone can gather at an indoor setting. Outdoors we are permitted to five people in a gathering and are required to maintain a 2 metre distance from anyone outside your household. Essential establishments will be open to 25% in store capacity and will follow business as usual. With these activities returning to our daily life, the Ontario government is asking us to be cautious of our decisions and follow the given guidelines as there will be fines being given out to those who do not follow the provided rules. Fines up to $100,000 will be given out depending on the act being committed. We can only do our best to stay safe, healthy and follow the given rules so we can move in the right direction forward!
