The NFL regular season is not only the start of the march to the Super Bowl, but the commencement of the annual pandemonium that decides who should be the, “Most Valuable Player.” This year, many great players have made a claim for the award, but the frontrunners have been Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. The quarterbacks plying their trade for the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs respectively

As the first chart displays, Aaron Rodgers has been as good as it gets in the league, and holds advantages in almost every key statistic and rating over Mahomes. Analysts and experts are in a state of offering perpetual acclaim to Rodgers after each passing performance. When it comes to the numbers, it is easy to understand why Vegas has Rodgers as the favourite to collect his third MVP. The lead is not only apparent by the eye, but the numbers clearly.

With that being said however, Google trends’ data sheds light onto the popularity of the two greats. From the beginning of the regular season to its end, the graphs have showcased that in every province and territory across Canada, Aaron Rodgers pales in comparison to Patrick Mahomes in terms of popularity. The major discrepancy in popularity nationwide between these athletes reveals that it is clear that the legend that used to feature on every commercial, is no longer as popular as the young superstar who gets the all the air time now.

Whether or not the data collected and displayed sways voters filling out their ballots, it does show that regardless of who is performing better, fans and journalists alike can get fatigued by watching the same athlete dominate. It is only natural, and we believe the chart and the graphs are evidence that everybody is always looking for the new/next big thing, even if the present is not done being special.
