Growing Travel Concerns in Canada Due to New Variant.

In Canada, the opposition leader Erin O’Toole, urged the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, to close the international border in the wake of new COVID-19 variant. O’Toole requested the government to put a ban on travellers from countries like South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.

The newly found variant in South Africa is the latest threat posed by COVID-19. After this new development in South Africa, different countries across the globe started holding emergency meetings to discuss the travel restrictions.

However, the World Health Organization says that overreaction to the new variant should be avoided while it’s still being investigated.

Recently in South Africa, the new COVID-19 related cases has been increasing from an average 200 to 2465 on Thursday. The new variant was discovered when South African scientists were studying the original virus.

In Britain, the nation’s Health Secretary Sajid Javid is recommending urgent actions telling the M-Ps this new variant is more contagious than the Delta variant.

In Ontario, the new COVID-19 related cases rose to 927 and five more deaths were reported. Currently 140 people are admitted to the Intensive Care Units across the province. Meanwhile the province is getting overwhelming response to the vaccination of children aged between 5 and 11. Canada already administered more than 60 million doses across the country.
