With Ontario’s cold winter weather, there’s nothing better than being outdoors and feeling warm at the same time!

Ontario Place has opened up firepits in 4 different locations for everyone to book and visit. The firepits are located at Trillium Park, Lakeside Fire Pit, Cedar Cove North and Cedar Cove South.

The fire pits offer a cottage-like experience without needing to leave the city. Each location has different seating available.  Trillium Park has rock seating, North Cedar Cove has log seating along with picnic tables, South Cedar Cove and the Lakeside Fire Pit location have Muskoka chairs if you’re feeling more loungy.

With indoor activities and dining closed, this is a fun option to consider when making plans with friends and family. With the fire pits being available, visitors are asked to continue following COVID-19 protocols: maintaining social distancing, gatherings limited to 10 people per pit, and wearing a mask if unable to stay 2 meters apart.

Reservations can be made online on Ontario Places website. If you’re seeking any fun add-ons, Hotel X offers a s’mores package so that you can snack on something sweet. Or you can bring your own marshmallows and roast them by the fire. They also offer a firewood package, which is essential since you have to bring your own firewood to the pits.

One Toronto resident, who’s booked her reservation online says she’s excited to go since she found out the pits were open. “It’s allowing me to get outside of my house. I feel like I’ve been inside forever. Now that I booked it, I’m planning on going with my friends. It allows us to be social during this time when it’s hard to get out. Even though things are not back to normal, it’s a little taste of normality.”

It’s no surprise that the cold weather has left us being stuck inside in our homes most of the time, so having the fire pits open allows us to get outside, socialize, see the lakeside and city view while being comfortable by staying warm next to the fire.
