Black Friday And Christmas Shopping

Black Friday Crowds

Most Wonderful Time of the Year…kind of…

Snow on the ground, holiday decorations all around everywhere you go, and lots, and lots of customers struggling to find the perfect gift for their dearly loved ones. It is also that time of the year where everyone’s wallets start to ease

and feel a little less heavy, the return of everyone’s favourite holiday shopping day, Black Friday! With the holiday season coming in, it is very understandable for a lot of customers to be heavily involved around Black Friday and even take part in

getting a good chunk of those sweet sweet deals. From discounted shoes from stores like Foot Locker, Champs, and many more shoe stores, to 50% off of a wide variety of clothes from famous clothing lines like H&M, Zara, BlueNotes, and many more.

I managed to talk to an employee from Best Buy and he told me the good and bad of working on Black Friday. Stating how busy it gets and how many orders they have to deal with on Black Friday, but he says the good thing about it is that he’s getting paid a lot more.

Not everyone is going ham…

Now, even though there are a lot of hungry customers out there, who are literally throwing money at whatever deals they can find, there are a good chunk of people out there

who are being wise this year about how they’re spending their money this year and even taking smarter approaches to this year’s holiday shopping, especially with the increased inflation and high interest rates.

Some regular customers aren’t even shopping that much this season because of this and are really watching how they spend their money this holiday season. Some of them not even shopping at all and are planning

just to make homemade gifts instead, which is a safer and cheaper approach compared to waiting in line for several hours, just to get a pair of shoes that are 50% off.

The Nice and The naughty…list

Since we’re still on the topic of budgeting and inflation, customers are being wise, not only with their budget, but about how they’re shopping for their loved ones. I got to talk to a couple of students at Seneca about the importance of

someone’s likeability and how it affects how much time, effort, and even money they are willing to spend on finding the perfect gift for their loved and valued ones. They went on to say how very important it is to make sure who you’re valuing this

holiday season, and, if necessary, crossing out those naughty people on your list that are not worthy of gifts, kind of dark but also kind of needed. It’s definitely not worth spending extra money for someone or for people you haven’t been close with

or even talked and caught up with in a while.
