How the Dodgers got to the World Series.
Early in the Offseason , the Dodgers signed Superstar MVP Shohei Ohtani to a record breaking 10 year $700m contract. The team already had a great lineup and by adding Ohtani , it was clear they are in a win now mode. The Dodgers ended up finishing the regular season in first place of the National League with 98 wins. The most wins throughout the entire league. They went up against the San Diego Padres in the Divisional round and ended up winning the series 3-2. Then the went up against the New York Mets and took the series 4-2 to advance to the World Series
World Series MVP : Freddie Freeman
Freddie Freeman is the 2024 World Series MVP. He had 6 hits and 4 home runs including a walkoff grand slam and 12 RBI's and had a huge impact on the series.
The finale : The World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers take on the New York Yankees in the World Series. In game 1 the Dodgers won 6-3 after a walkoff grand slam from Freddie Freeman.
They went on to win in game 2 after slashing 3 home runs and only giving up 1 hit through 7 innings with a final score being 4-2.
Freddie Freeman started the night off with a 2 run home run in game 3. The Dodgers went on to take a 4-0 lead untill the 9th inning when Alex Verdugo hit a 2 run home run to cut the lead down to 2 runs. The Dodgers still ended up winning 4-2 and taking a 3-0 lead in the series. The Yankees went on to get 11 runs off of 6 hits with 2 home runs taking the win in game 4 , 11-4 cutting the series down to 3-1.
In game 5 , the Yankees took an early 5-0 lead. But this did not stop the Dodgers. They came back in the 5th inning tieing the game 5-5. The Yankees took the lead right back but then the Dodgers quickly scored 2 and took a 7-6 lead. The Yankees tried to make a comeback in the 9th but the Dodgers hold on to the lead and become the 2024 World Series champions. Their 6th time being World Series champs since 2010.
