Last night was the final four in the NCAA College playoffs. Auburn played Florida and Houston played Duke. Going into the night, Duke and Florida were the favorites, and Florida won in a close game that went to the wire. The final score was 79-73. Florida star Walter Clayton Jr. led the Gators to their victory with 34 points, 2 assists, and 4 boards, helping not only his team but also his draft stock go up.
Duke went on to play against Houston, which seemed like it was a back-and-forth for buckets at the beginning of the game. The Blue Devils wound up taking a six-point lead to end the first half. Houston had a spark in the second half. They were playing catch-up ball the entire half. Houston ending up going on an 11-0 run. But with 30 seconds left in the game, Duke was still up by 6 with many thinking the game was over. Houston’s guard Emanuel Sharp drained a clutch three. The Cougars played good defense in the final seconds, stopping the top prospect in college Cooper Flag from hitting a game-winning two which would have given Duke the victory and sent them to the finals Houston shocked everybody.
This is now Houston’s third trip to the finals after losing back to back in 1983 and 1984. Florida did the opposite winning back to back championships in ’06 and ’07. Florida is the favourite. Can Houston shock everyone and win their first or will it be the deadly Gators?
