The families of two college students from Chicago who died during the recent Astroworld Festival are now among the 125 people who are taking legal action against rapper Travis Scott and the companies involved.

The new plaintiffs claim wrongful death, stating Scott and other companies failed to take basic safety precautions before the Houston-based concert got out of hand, causing the death of 20-year-old Jacob Jurinek and 21-year-old Franco Patino. The two victims played on the same high school football team and were close friends.

Rapper Drake, who performed before Scott, is also a defendant in previous lawsuits, which allege he should have been aware that people were being injured and contributed to the tragedies by continuing to perform anyway. Meredith Duncan, a law professor at the University of Houston Law Center Faculty says that for the Canadian artist to be subject to civil liability, the plaintiffs have to show that he was somehow at fault. In response to the incident, Drake took to Instagram to write, “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering.”
