The first and only debate of the 2024 election between the running mates of Donald J Trump and Kamala D Harris. Voters can watch what their next president’s assistant will say on policy ideas and influence any decision the 46th commander-in-chief will make. The debate was shown on CBS with two moderators. The rules are simple for this debate, microphones are always on, both candidates would be able to answer a question for two minutes with the other making a one minute follow up with a one-minute debate on it. Unlike the Presidential debate, no fact-checking will take place.
With the ongoing hurricane off the Gulf in Florida, it will be key to see how each candidate responds to what is going and how it should have been tackled on the ground.
Vice-presidential candidate Tim Waltz is also in a hot seat being Kamala Harris running mate because she is sitting Vice-President currently. There is some heat on the sitting Vice President for a lack of assistance being sent to the Gulf side of Florida and some other affected states. In a conference Harris had said “Families affected by hurricane Helene would receive $750 in compensation” but it is not enough coming from Americans affected by the devastating weather storm. J.D Vance and Donald Trump have gone out to the affected areas and have seen what is going on, on ground zero while bringing in supplies as well as President Trump ordering a tanker of gasoline stressing in these times, that being the hardest to obtain within the state(s) affected. Understandably Florida is Donald’s home state and is taking the time there in what is needed and working it in with Governer DeSantis.
Policy and economic issues are the biggest thing for Americans this time around in 2024. It has been known now for a few years that the cost of living is through the rough and the notions of owning a home are slowly starting to fade away out of reach for some Americans, which kills the great American dream. It will be key for Waltz to address these issues to swing over the independent voters back to the side of the DNC and how their policies will make life and costs more affordable for Americans. Trump and Vance have made it clear what their economic policy is. Trump wants to get everything down by fifty percent or more within his first year back in the White House but striking the source of energy and begin more fracking that the supply overseeds the demand. Trump and Vance pushing this will grab the attention of AMericans as this is the main issue Americans are worried about in this election.
Voters will get to see this debate on October 1st which will be the only one before the election on November 3rd. It will run for 90 minutes (about 1 and a half hours) for policy to be stressed and where voters will turn to vote for.
