House of commons approves outlawing “conversion therapy”

Conversion therapy a concept that tries to transform a person’s sexual orientation to heterosexual and represses any sort of non-heterosexual attraction and change their sexual identity to align with their sex at birth has been officially forbidden in the country.

In fact, this practice who led to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and suicide especially among minors was voted unanimously to ban by the House of Commons on Wednesday.

The fight against conversion therapy which included talk therapy, hypnosis, electric shocks, and fasting took time. In October 2020, the bill banning conversion therapy was reintroduced by Minister of Justice David Lametti, more than five months after the legislation was approved by the justice committee.
