First established in 1965, Frank's Pizza House located on St. Claire Ave. W. is one of the oldest pizzerias in Toronto. This is an Italian run business ran by Giorgio Taverniti and his family.

Giorgio Taverniti

For the past twenty-seven years, Giorgio has been making pizza inspired by his late mother and sharing it with the community and everyone that walks past. The dine-in or take-out restaurant offers authentic classic Italian dishes such a Spaghetti or panzerotti. The Taverniti family also supports the less fortunate and homeless people, especially during this challenging period, by allowing customers to pay what they can. All the proceeds get donated to help those who are struggling.

Taverniti's passion is to make pizza and to share his love for it, but he was recently diagnosed with glaucoma affecting his ability to see properly. Taverniti was first diagnosed in his late teens, where at times, his surroundings appear foggy. Taverniti says he is losing most of his vision in his right eye and the peripheral vision in his left eye.

Looking into the future, the time if exactly when Tavernti's eyesight will go remains unanswered, but he plans to keep the restaurant up and running for as long as he can. Customers have been struck with the news of the business potentially closing in the future, and they say it has left not only a significant impact in their life but their children as well. Frank's Pizza House is described as not just a regular pizzeria, but a place where some even call home because of the atmosphere it has and the people in it.
At the end of the day, Taverniti keeps one thing in mind, although things aren't always going to be easy, there're possible.
