Black Lives Matter protest has many voices

The emotions that the Black community is feeling are unimaginable. A world with different races is a beautiful reality. However, another reality is that people of color don’t get the respect they deserve. How does one’s color mean so much to themselves, yet to some it’s a threat? That perceived feeling of “threat” caused a death that led the Black Lives Matter movement to historical magnitudes.

Omega, a 20-year-old student living in Toronto knows the hardships of being a Black woman. She has lived in the United States and currently resides in Canada. Omega is frustrated that another Black man had to die. She’s tired of seeing the Black community suffer.

In this podcast, I’m talking to Omega about the current events that have moved people around the world. Omega has some very strong and powerful thoughts to share with us, and she is tired of waiting for change. She’s hopeful that this movement will make a difference. Tune in to the podcast to hear Omega’s voice on racism.

"It's time people started getting loud," says Omega.

The story behind the escalation of the Black Lives Matter movement

A cop had no right to kneel on a Black man’s neck. George Floyd was a Black man who didn’t deserve to die. There was no reason for the cop to do what he did. Floyd was complying with the arrest. Why did the cop feel the need to put his knee on Floyds nec? George Floyd was pleading saying, “I can’t breathe” and “please don’t kill me.” The cop had his knee on for almost  9 minutes. Floyd died on the scene of the arrest. Why does the justice system have so much power, yet it doesn’t serve fairness?

The news soon spread like fire. Thousands of people took to the streets to protest police brutality. Everyone is angry. They want justice. They want respect for the Black community and for people to care.
