19 year old charged with Second-degree murder in the death of 15 year old

Maahir Dosani has been identified as the 15-year-old who was stabbed outside of the Victoria Park Collegiate Institute in North York around 3 p.m on Tuesday. The teen was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died a few moments later. The Grade 11 student was one of three other teenagers who were stabbed in the incident outside of the institute.

with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) on Wednesday said that the Grade 11 student “was a conscientious student who was respectful and engaged in class.”

She also continued, “We know that Maahir attended school on a regular basis and participated fully in the classes here at Victoria Park.”

The two other students a 16-year-old and 14-year-old boy was also found by police officers with non-life-threatening wounds. The TDSB confirmed that all three of the teen boys attended the institute, excluding the accused who was a student of a different TDSB school.

According to CP24 students on the scene said, “Right after school there was a collection of 50 or so students just standing around the school and then after, about 20 or 15 minutes, they started fighting and then they just ran away when someone fell to the floor,” the student said. “The ambulance came and that was it.”

The police have not mentioned if the victims and the suspects knew each other. However, police took 19-year-old Toronto resident Ahmed Rafin into custody where he was charged with second-degree murder.

In a letter sent home with students, by the principal of the school read, “It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the death of a young person following a violent incident outside Victoria Park CI shortly after dismissal today,” the letter, which was sent Tuesday evening. It continues to say, “the TDSB will continue to work with the Toronto Police Service as needed throughout their investigation and would like to thank them and Toronto Paramedic Services for their assistance.”

The Toronto Police Service’s Homicide Unit is asking anyone who has photos or video of the incident during or before the stabbing incident to contact investigators or to reach out to Crime Stoppers.
