Seneca Sting women’s volleyball team looked determined to win its twelfth game straight at the outsent.  The Sting came out strong, taking the early lead and dominating with a 7-1 lead early on. The Sting’s Mikayla Patras took charge ending with 15 of the team’s points. The Sting took the first set 25-12.

Fleming Phoenix took control with a 5-0 lead in the second set after a few errors made by the Sting. But Seneca came roaring back, taking the lead 21-12 with minutes left in the second set. Time out was then taken by Fleming to regain their composure, but it wasn’t enough. Seneca won the second set as well.

The third set was a bit confusing for the Sting as they took the lead early 10-4, leading to a Phoenix timeout. The Sting won another point after the timeout but then Fleming started to make a comeback, tying it up at 10-10. But it wouldn’t last long though as Seneca then took the lead 22-10, eventually sweeping Phoenix in all three sets.  Seneca has now won its first twelve games to start the season 12-0.

Seneca coach Saba Seda said after the game,“I thought we played super well, did well in transition in the defense and offense. I think the hardest part of the game for us was having errors on some of the passes and I believe that there is some improvement that could be made by us.”

Next up: Durham Lords

Coach Saba also made mention of their next opponent, Durham Lords who are 9-2 and only 6 points back of Seneca.  The game is at Durham on Saturday at 1pm.

“They’re hungry, they want to take us down, and in our games together we have 2-1 record. They are hungry to even the season series against us and we want to go 3-1 against them and improving our record to 13-0.” He also said that their serves and passes need to be better for their game against Durham, which he said serves way harder than the Sting.
