As we currently live in a province-wide lockdown, most businesses have closed their doors. One of those businesses is fitness gyms. A Goodlife Fitness located in London, Ontario, is trying to cope during closure until further notice. Goodlife employees and sisters Eleni and Maria Spanogiannis have been working there for several years and were both members before getting hired. They’ve seen how Goodlife is managing during these stressful times and what the company is doing to keep their business going.
“Goodlife followed the government guidelines very well and acted quickly when lockdown rules were enforced,” Eleni said, “They have also been sending out emails regarding how Goodlife is doing as a company.”
Although being closed is difficult for the employees as they are unable to work, it’s also difficult for the members being unable to complete their regular workouts using their desired piece of equipment. This causes adjustments to workouts according to the equipment owned at home, “We are part of the many people who don’t own much gym equipment,” Maria said, “But, we’ve had to modify our workouts to what we have access to, and that’s what most people have to do right now.”
Zoom, a communication app that blew up when Covid caused the first lockdown, has now been used for school lectures, online meetings, and of course, virtual gym training sessions. Some personal trainers have taken time off due to safety precautions, so Goodlife has started sending out links to virtual classes via email to their members to get a workout in.
Business survival is a big topic nowadays. Stores, restaurants, and other businesses have been affected by Covid quite a bit. However, Goodlife seems to be in good hands because they’re a big name corporate gym, so their survival chances are higher than small and individually owned gyms.
As it stands, Goodlife is trying to keep themselves engaged with their members and are proving they care by offering virtual classes and sending email updates. From a company standpoint, Goodlife has shown a lot of positivity and must have many members happy with their effort.
Goodlife also provides helpful information regarding training programs on their website.
