Blue Jay Blues

At least some Blue Jays fans are excited this season, despite the disappointment of almost 30 years. Diehard rue fans have been sticking with the Jays through it all. Their last World Series title was won in 1993, since then there have been occasional trips to the post season, but no championships.

Though longtime fans remain optimistic, the consensus of those attending the opener was “we’re not getting our hopes up this season”.

The usual sea of blue around the Rogers Centre was not seen at the home opener on March 28th.   To the fans dismay, the Jays ended up losing their first game to the Detroit Tigers. A chorus of sighs and disappointed comments filled the area outside the Rogers Centre. It was certainly easier to get to Union Station this time around.

Longtime fan, Adrian Lee says he’s disappointed with some of the changes.

“They’re just not the same anymore, all of their good players are gone. I don’t really think I can watch them anymore.”

Among the starts that have been traded,  Kevin Pillar. He was dealt to the San Francisco Giants. In return, three new players are being welcomed to the Jays family: IF (infielder) Alen Hanson and right handers Juan De Paula and Derek Law.

As the season progresses, fans hope to see the Blue Jays succeed this year and dream of making it to the World Series again, some day.
