$21 Billion Dollars for Electrified Rail

By Melanie Starke

Canadian construction companies are gearing up as the provincial government commits to spending over 21 billion dollars on electrified rail over the next decade.

The government says it will make commutes that hub into Union Station faster and more frequent while also adding environmental benefits.

Aecon Construction Group is building a team which plans to take on construction management aspects for the electrified rail commitment in Ontario. Aecon hopes this movement will help make commuting more environmentally friendly.

We spoke with Fraser Gray who talks about the highlight of the project, environmental impacts.

Construction companies, like Aecon, see environmental impacts as one of the leading benefits of the project. Reduced CO2 emissions and reduction in fuel is just the beginning of the advantages of the new rail system planned for the GTA.
