TTC Takes on the Car

By: Jonathan Buckstein

And they’re off!

Two teams, two different modes of transportation, one goal in mind. The Dufferin Mall.

Four of Seneca at York’s brightest young journalist, in teams of two, departed from the school grounds just past noon, one team leaving via car, the other team, taking the subway.

The purpose, is to see how the new Yonge-University subway line extension has

changed traveling, especially for students and all those who ride on the line to York University. Is it faster, or will the prehistoric automobile come out on top.

The estimated 35 minute car ride should be relatively easy for those in the car, Dean, who will be handling the driving and Chiara, on the camera documenting the journey. Although many of the driving apps say it should be relatively simple, things like the Strike at York, along with construction on Keele could be their downfall in the race.

For the subway goers, Harrison and Victoria, unexpected delays and congestion could hold them back, as well as the convenience of being dropped off exactly where they want, something the car can only do.

The race is on, who will get there first? How close will it be?
