Seneca Sting indoor Soccer tryouts conclude

Seneca Sting men’s soccer tryouts ended on January 11. The team has two new coaches this season: Assistant coach Joey Amato, and head coach Patrice Gheisar.

Gheisar wasn’t present for the final day of tryouts, but Amato said there many returning players, as well as some new players trying out for the team. Amato is looking forward to the season ahead.

Amato also said because there are many returning players, only a couple of spots need to be filled in, which makes the competition to make the squad much more fierce.

Godwill Yengwia is a new player trying for this year’s squad. His objective for the season is to score as many goals as possible. During a practice match, he even came close to scoring twice. He hopes to keep a cool head for his next chance.

Seneca Sting’s regional championship match is on March 6 against Conestoga College at Newnham Campus in the Stingdome.
