Oscar winner Brie Larson takes flight as Carol Danvers; Marvel’s first female led comic book standalone. After 18 films with a male lead, it’s about time that a female hero steps in to help the Avengers. The trailer displays Captain Marvel’s full power, as she flies through space releasing her full cosmic powers. This standalone will be an origin story for Captain Marvel and this will also show her future with the Avengers.

The trailer shows Annette Bening’s character for the first time, she is the one who saved Carol Danvers and made her part Kree. The trailer also shows a better look at Ben Mendelsohn as the shape-shifting Skrull leader Talos, Jude Law as Kree commander and digitally de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
The reason why a Captain Marvel standalone is important, is because she is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Comic universe. After Avengers: Infinity War, the heroes are left rather discouraged. The big baddie in Infinity War, Thanos, snapped his fingers and wiped out half of humanity. In the post credit scene, we see Nick Fury sending out a text to Captain Marvel, hoping she would be able to save them.
Image result for Jim ZubkavichCaptain Marvel is such an integral part of the Avengers, that in the new age of comic books she leads the Avengers with Black Panther. Marvel Comic Book Creator and Animator, Jim Zubkavich says, “Captain Marvel represents a new “generation” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her film lays the groundwork for the post-Infinity War landscape and its level of success will help determine the future strength of the largest ongoing movie franchise in history.”
As Marvel brings in Carol Danvers it sets off a new story arc for the Phase 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now that Disney has officially bought back the rights from 2oth Century Fox, heroes such as Deadpool, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four all return home and will possibly join the Avengers.
Marvel fan Graham Becksted is excited for the future of Marvel, “The future of the Marvel Universe is very exciting. With the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and others coming into Disney’s hands finally we might get interpretations of those characters that really knock it out of the park.”
Captain Marvel will be released March 8th, 2019, which is also International Women’s Day!
