The 16-year-old climate activist, Greta Thunberg, is making her way to Alberta.
Thunberg made the announcement on Twitter, after speaking in a rally in Denver, Colorado.
Heading north again. Now follows a few days of well needed rest while enjoying the spectacular nature of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Then on to Alberta, Canada! #slowtravel pic.twitter.com/iTfyF9ROCb

There was no specifications of the location or dates for her visit to the province.
Premier Jason Kenney’s office released the following statement after the news that Thunberg would be visiting Alberta:
“We trust that Ms. Thunberg will recognize Alberta’s leading human rights and environmental standards, especially in comparison to oil-producing dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, and Venezuela – which she will presumably visit next – as well as major growing emitters like China,” the statement reads.
How are people reacting?
Many people are already taking to Twitter to welcome Thunberg to Alberta.
Come up to see us in Calgary, @GretaThunberg!! Many Albertans are concerned about the #climatecrisis, more than people think.

“Greta (has) a voice that we should hear here in Alberta. She represents the next generation who will have to deal with the consequences of climate change"

Others feel that her visit will not go as smoothly.
Every one needs to speak truth. I certainly don't agree with her coming to Alberta to knock our clean oil and gas industry. However, your statement that she is flying around in a private jet is very untrue. She is actually travelling from the US in Telsa electric car.

What will be the impact?
Thunberg’s actions sparked marches across Canada last month with at least 85 cities participating in the national movement.
Diane Colley-Urquhart, Calgary City Council member, said to the Calgary Herald, Thunberg’s visit would encourage youth in Calgary who have been staging weekly climate strikes every Friday.
“She’s a catalyst for people to learn more, take an interest and become more informed,” said Colley-Urquhart, adding that she hopes people in the province will be above personal attacks against Thunberg during her stay and focus on her message instead.
The visit of Greta Thunberg could lead to a new debate on the dependence of Alberta on the oil and gas sector.
.@GretaThunberg says she is heading to Alberta, Canada. Your thoughts?
